Cancer Campaign
Thanks to the generosity of more than 2,000 contributors, the Tuality Healthcare Foundation succeeded in meeting its goal to raise $2.5 million for expansion of the hospital’s cancer services. As a result:
- The Tuality/OHSU Cancer Center (pictured above) opened in 2002. Now local cancer patients no longer have to travel outside the community for radiation treatments. The center serves approximately 170 cancer patients each year using state-of-the-art diagnostic and radiation-oncology services. Learn more about the Center.
- Phase One of Tuality’s Breast Health Center opened in 2003. This development brought advances such as computer-aided detection for mammography, ultrasounds, stereotactic biopsy and bone densitometry equipment.
- A Breast Health Center Program Coordinator position was created. Now breast cancer patients have an important resource to guide them through diagnostic and treatment services. Because this is such a traumatic time in a patient’s life, those diagnosed with breast cancer will also receive counseling and guidance about treatment options, access to educational materials and assistance connecting with support groups.
